Danny Dorland

keywords: actor

Danny is a young actor who scored his first leading role in a TV series playing Joris in the popular Nickelodeon series Spotlight. Two seasons have been released so far.

Danny Dorland was born in Helmond and has been fascinated by films from an early age. He dreamed of playing in front of the camera himself one day. After primary school, he took his first step towards 'the profession' by choosing the VMBO Theater course at the Pleincollege in Nuenen. He then continued that line at the ROC Tilburg with the MBO Artists' Training. After the first year, Danny decided to switch to the Film Actors Academy And Masterclasses (FAAAM) in Amsterdam, where he has been following the evening course of Hugo Metsers since 2015.

During his school days, Danny has worked on many small and large projects, including student films, online commercials and theater plays. In June 2015, he played and sang the role of Galileo Figaro in Music All Round's performance 'I Want It All' (based on the musical 'We Will Rock You').

In April 2015, Danny was cast to star in Nickelodeon's scripted reality series Spotlight. The series is set at a theater school and gives the viewer a glimpse into the lives of five young, talented students who aspire to a life in the spotlight. It contains recognizable and exciting stories with song, dance, music and cabaret. Danny plays the role of Joris Kanis, an adventurous entertainer who plays drums and sings. Joris is also the host of his own vlog channel: JorOnTV. Two seasons of Spotlight have now been produced and broadcast.

In addition to being an actor and singer, Danny is also a drummer himself: he has been drumming since he was seven. Moreover, he is a fanatical sportsman and he does a lot of fitness and strength training.
