ERIC VAN DER PALEN Set Design
Studied architecture and Theatre Design in the Netherlands. Graduated in 1987.

Designs sets for Theatre- and Musical-productions, and worked in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, New York, Tokio en Osaka.

Designed the sets for the Musicals Heerlijk Duurt het Langst(2015), Minoes(2014), Dreamgirls(2014), Flashdance(2013), Spamalot(2012), Domino(Belgium), Legally Blonde, Hairspray, 3 Musketeers (Netherlands, Berlin and Stuttgart), Evita(2007), Grease(2006 and 1997), Fame(1998 and 2007), Footloose(2008), La Boheme(2008), My Fair Lady, Crazy for You, Musicals in Concert, Titanic (Netherlands and Hamburg), Sound of Music (Netherlands and Belgium), Cyrano (Tokio en Osaka), Rex, 42nd Street, The King and I(Belgium), Guys and Dolls, Fantasticks, Ollie B Bommel en De Trullenhoedster, Irving Berlin, Python, There's No Business Like Showbussines, Ghost Train, Chorus Line. Plays as Jane Eyre, Talking Heads, Amy's View, Adio(Berlin), Reincarnation. The opera's Brundibar(of Hans Krasa) and Westerling(modern opera of Jan Bus). For the Royal Tropical Institute he made the design for the exibition “Sjamanism”. As an associate designer he was involved in the Hollandrama of the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, more then 20 plays of the National Theatre “Toneelgroep Amsterdam”(as Ilias, Time of Our Life, Richard III, Cocktail, Count Your Blessings, King Lear, Ifigeneia), the musicals West Side Story, Joe, Cyrano(Netherlands and New York), Elisabeth, The Time Affaire, Evita(1995), Torch Song Trilogy.

As a teacher he joined Artibus (theatre design) in Utrecht, and the AKI academie for the Arts in Enschede.

In 2007 he was nominated for BEST SET DESIGN of EVITA
In 2005 he was voted BEST SET DESIGN in Germany for the 3 Musketeers.
In 2003 he won the Prize for BEST SET DESIGN in Germany, for his design of TITANIC the Musical, and was nominated for BEST SET DESIGN for THE SOUND OF MUSIC in the Netherlands.

Was granted 1987 with a scholar-ship by the Dutch Councel for Theatre Design, said: "we see him as an important designer for the development of Dutch art".
