Frans Slangen was an atypical director. If it couldn't be done the way it should be, then it had to be done the way it could be done. He had his goal clearly in mind; the KRO had to be a meaningful social player. And he managed to do that, although his unorthodox way of operating did not necessarily make him popular with all players in the broadcasting political discourse.
