Steve McQueen, the Oscar-winning director of 12 Years a Slave, will make a documentary about Amsterdam during the Second World War. The Brit himself lives in our capital. The website of the Dutch Film Fund states that McQueen will receive a realization contribution of 800,000 euros for De Bezette Stad, a documentary based on the book Atlas of an occupied city: Amsterdam 1940-1945. That illustrated work, written by his Dutch wife Bianca Stigter, is due to be published in March.
