Antoinette Beumer's debut novel has become a personal story. "A few years ago I decided to only work straight from my heart." says the director of the films Soof and The Happy Housewife. "I lost myself a bit at a certain point, in the success of films I made." Beumer says she is proud of her films, but wants to tell more stories that are closer to herself. She also plans to adapt her novel My Father is an Airplane into a film.
